It’s named for the family that established it as its home and for the year of its foundation, and in its present incarnation as a luxury boutique hotel it trades heavily on its residential atmosphere and its quasi-aristocratic elegance.

It’s still smallish, at just 14 rooms, and at this scale it’s actually possible for every one of them to have its own style and character. The Cozy category somewhat undersells the entry-level comforts, while the suites, which occupy what were once drawing rooms and reception rooms, are spacious indeed. All are decorated in a mix of antique and contemporary furnishings, and though they’re full of period details the designs exhibit a modern sensibility.

Breakfast is served in a shaded courtyard, while the sunset is the main attraction on the rooftop terrace. For lunch and dinner you’ll depend on the establishments in the old town center, which is amply supplied with restaurants.
