Casa Munich

In spite of the name, a reference to its owners’ German heritage, Casa Munich is as Ibizan as they come — a perfectly idyllic Mediterranean farmhouse hotel, on a hill surrounded on three sides by a nature reserve, a few crucial minutes to the south of Ibiza town. From here the island’s legendary nightlife is accessible, but not inescapable; resort-style relaxation is the order of the day, and on this score Casa Munich proves itself quite capable indeed.

The rooms are handsome and understated, with an eclectic vibe that incorporates elements both rustic and modern, as well as influences from all around the world, from the Balearics to Bali. None are small — many come with living rooms and/or terraces — but the multi-unit apartments are particularly spacious, adding kitchenettes to the mix for an extra bit of self-sufficiency.

With just 31 rooms it’s smallish, but comes equipped with services that belie its size; there’s a spa, a gym, yoga and Pilates sessions, tennis and basketball courts, and even a football pitch, and bikes are available for exploring the salt flats of the nature reserve. There are also three pools, one of them adults-only, and a poolside bistro menu to complement Casa Munich’s substantial breakfast.
