The Standard hotels have always been among the most glamorous of the boutique hotel names, and in retrospect it was only a matter of time before they found their way to Ibiza. This Balearic paradise is a perfect fit not only for its famously lively nightlife, something of a Standard specialty, but also for its exceedingly laid-back atmosphere, which brings to mind the brand’s ultra-chill Miami outpost.
It’s set in the heart of Ibiza’s old town, in a striking all-white contemporary building whose shuttered balconies refer to the island’s more conventional architectural forms. Inside, you’ll find a modern interpretation of the mid-century styles beloved of both the Standard’s creative team and the bohemian-chic travelers who made Ibiza such a desirable destination — the rooms look surprising yet inevitable, a perfect translation of the Standard aesthetic to the Mediterranean.
And like any other Standard it places at least as much emphasis on its public spaces. The Standard, Ibiza comes with a versatile rooftop pool, restaurant, and bar, with views of the city’s castle and rooftops. A second restaurant occupies the ground floor, and serves as the hotel’s interface with the city, and seamlessly transitions into another nightlife venue as the evening progresses. And the hotel features something of a hotel within a hotel, or a satellite establishment: the Casa Privada, a block away, contains 14 more rooms, plus its own rooftop pool and bar, for a private or semi-private respite from the Standard proper.
